Weekend Update

Went out and saw The Dark Knight for a second time. This time I saw it with my father. He agreed, very well done but very dark.

My brother and I drove out to Dorney Park and ran around there on Saturday. It was a lot of fun because they opened a new coaster called Voodoo. We hit all of their coasters like 2 or 3 times. I love roller coasters. Voodoo was really interesting because we figured out how they used magnetic propulsion to launch the cars forward and backwards. We rode it three times, in the front, middle, and very back. Each time was a different experience. The back was actually my favorite, because you hung sideways, facing the ground, the most, giving a very intense experience, especially when the cars pause for a second facing downwards.

A new Protomen song was leaked via YouTube. "Father of Death." This song continues my love of this band. They really do have a very unique and varied brand of music, able to switch genres multiple times in one album. I cannot wait for their second album, titled Act II.

I got tired of the Drama Llamas in WoW. I moved my rising Gnome Warrior, Tibblebonke, over to my original server. At least there I have access to more cash, items, etc. And people. I was getting tired of logging on alone.

I also tried out Lord of the Rings Online and Star Wars Galaxies... SWG was bland. LotRO is actually decent, but my computer lags a bit when playing it, so I'm not inclined to switch from WoW.

I might be going back to Pittsburgh this weekend... I need to talk to a few people and see what's going on. That and it would be nice to be back for my Big's last day of classes and graduation from CMU. If he's reading this, well, you'll get a call soon-ish.

Tomorrow night is D&D. I need to remember to log on and see what we can do. I'm probably going to fill out and sit down with a Starbucks application tomorrow just to do it and get a base part-time job for now. And it would keep me busy on weekends during the semester.

My brother is still having issues with the Wireless router at his place, so the Tech Support (read: me) might get summoned back across Jersey to help him out *sigh*, but family is family. And its fun to actually make things work.

I'll tag this later. A little tired now. Biked up the Delaware river for breakfast and back, and up the big hill to my house. Three days of wearing myself down (day in sun at beach on Friday without suntan lotion = burnt Bagger + no suntan lotion at themepark = more burnt Bagger).

God Save Us All

My parents are at a Kenny Chesney concert...

My brother is coming home this weekend. We will commence the proper exorcism rituals to rescue my parents from the vile and foul grip of Country Music.

Pray for us, that we might be strong.

Now With Brevity

So, the girls and I lived through Monday, always a good thing. Took them to see Wall-E and they loved it. The Dark Knight was indeed ZOMGAWESOMENESS. I now have a b&w pic of the Joker as my background on my computer. I might upload it later. I just received official notice from Villanova that yes I am accepted. Job hunt still goes on.

The Thunderstorm outside can't seem to decide if it wants to rain or just sound threatening.

Of course, some of the WoW Drama Llamas are spitting all over the place and I'm trying to figure out what to do next, or just get up and leave for a bit. Dunno.

My little cousin (10, soon to be 11) asked me if I would take her to see The Dark Knight...I told her to go and watch Batman Begins first. If she can make it past the Scarecrow's Horror Gas, then she'll be able to stand some of the scarier stuff. Still, she won't get the point of the Joker. And I will refrain from ranting non-stop about the Joker. Maybe that'll get a post all to itself.

I fixed my brother's computer. Built it from scratch, messed things around, troubleshooted hardware. So yeah. It is working now. And I'm jealous because its better than my computer.

Not much else new yet. I missed dialing in to the D&D session on Monday. Shucks, I suppose. But missing D&D will not cause the end of the world.

So, for now, we've reached a bit of a status quo. Just need to get it to be a better quality status quo.

iPhone Update, Conan, and Computers, Oh My!

So, a few things. Most recently (read: within the past few hours), I updated the iPhone to 2.0 and then went crazy downloading free apps. Sorry Ari, your drinking app has already been made, but I bet you could do it better. One of the cool ones was this game that claims to be the start of an iPhone only MMO, which sounds neat in practice. The game plays like an odd, timed version of Puzzle Quest, but instead of pieces automatically falling in, you wait for them to show up. Oh, and it is tilt sensitive, which I didn't realize until I was ready to move on and try something else. There's a few other fun things, but some are just hokey. Still, I <3 the Cowbell app :D

Today I picked up two books: The City of Ember and The Coming of Conan the Cimmerian. City of Ember looks interesting; a kids novel being turned into a movie that Bill Murray is going to be in. I dunno how much you know about Billy Murray, but he's swimming in dough. He doesn't make movies anymore unless he wants to, which means this must've blown his socks off for him to want to take the part in the movie. Needless to say, my hopes are high. Conan. This is the stuff of legends. This is the original 13 short-stories. This is classic pulp fiction. I'm looking forward to reading it, although there's enough appendices in here to rival my annotated T.S. Eliot's The Wasteland, and that's saying something huge. I happen to love T.S. Eliot and have these super-referenced and annotated versions of his stuff. The Conan book has even some of the letters Robert E. Howard wrote to and received from H.P. Lovecraft. How come I didn't know the two of them talked until today?? Meh, my literary knowledge must be on fumes right now. Time to go read.

But before I do that as I pack off to bed... I solved the problem with my brother's computer. I helped him pick out parts on Newegg.com and he bought them. I received them and began putting them together. Well, things were going okay until I tried to turn it on. And nothing happened. No smoke test, at least. I was afraid I'd have to buy parts over again from short-circuiting, but alas. I was succesful in that regard. It turns out I didn't realize I had to put a 12V wire into the motherboard for it to succesfully turn on all the way. I was being taunted by a 2-second turn-on and the shut-off. But it works now, so the next phase is to buy Vista and let me baby-sit it as it installs. That's what Conan is for.

Dark Knight this weekend! I'm excited. I might try dragging the brother back home to go see it with everyone. Or I might just go see it with the parents. Either way. I have to watch my little cousins on Monday during the day, but it really just means I get to go swimming for the day and making sure they don't kill themselves.

I also will most likely be attending part-time classes at Villanova this Fall/Spring and I'm excited about it. It means I can finally do something with computers that's not me breaking my head in with ECE crap. Well, I'm getting there. We'll see how things pan out. Now to find a job nearby, maybe on campus. I still want to go back to CMU and visit my Brothers at KapSig, but we'll see when I can have free time and afford the gas, let alone deal with the parents.

That's it for now. It was a long post, but it kinda' summed up the week. I promise more shorter posts in the future.

Let's Kick Things Off

So, my life kinda sucked for a while there, but it just means I have an opportunity to do better. I ended up on Academic Suspension from Carnegie Mellon University after I realized that perhaps my degree choice of Electrical and Computer Engineering wasn't quite what I wanted to do in life.

Sucks to be me.

But at least I figured it out before my last year in college. At least my parents are really cool with me finding out what I want to do so I can enjoy it and be successful. Meh...is this supposed to be one of those introductory posts where I ramble about myself? Perhaps. But for right now, here I am, back home in Jersey, looking for part-time classes and part-time jobs. In a year, I hope to be back in Pittsburgh and ready to kick butt.

What do I want to do with this? That's an excellent question. I want to run this blog for the following:
1. To give me something to do through which I can express myself.
2. To let the guys back in Pittsburgh know I'm still alive.
3. So I can review stuff. Movies, books, music, whatever.

Expect personal stories, venting, reviews on anything, personal ideas. I might talk about WoW strategies or frustrations. I might talk about how that Hellboy II movie was amazing, but different from the comic. I might just be ranting about how a one hour trip to Villanova became two hours because I was stupid.

Yeah, its a blog. What do you expect?

Signing off,
-Bagger
